What did I do??

I did something nice for myself yesterday.  AFTER YEARS of trying to lose weight.. I made a commitment to do something about it.  Actually the commitment came a year and a half before, where I said - if I cannot lose weight by the end of the year.. I will look into Bariatric surgery.  And I did.  So I took Mike and went to a seminar and signed up to see dr. Woods.  We liked him right away and he a an amazing surgeon.

Yesterday was the day - I am just now getting excited.  I kept thinks something would be in the way.. I would not a a good candidate... my insurance would crap out.... I wouldn’t lose weight... etc. But I was committed to make myself healthier and live longer.

We showed up at 6:15 am to check in then they took us back to the pre op room. And we waited and waited but finally they came as a Horde!! Taking blood - putting in an IV..( my veins are not wel behaved so this is the scariest part for me...) SO after 1 blown vein...we got an iv.  Then we got a shot of anticoagulation stuff.  And I had to clean my belly ( shine my belly button as my nurse said).  Then the anesthesia doc came in — asked me questions - looked gruff and I told him I was afraid I wouldn’t fall asleep... he said as he walked out the door “we always win” with a big smile.  And he did..

6 puncture holes and a shit ton of pain later ( managed by morphine) and it was over. About 1120.  Mike let friends and family know I hadn’t died.  There was a woman in recovery that talked NONSTOP  so I was glad to get to a room.  It was an awesome room, well lit and the staff were really awesome.   Dr.  Woods said my surgery was extraordinarily unremarkable.  It went perfect and my anatomy was well suited for it.  I forgot to ask how they got the leftover stomach out???? SO I think I can get excited now...  Back to my liquid diet and I am actually glad...  I had to walk that night— which I did.. and the CRNA was a friend of Izzey.. go figure!  We walked and talked horses.. how does that happen??
